I am so excited to give you a tour of my new Craft Room! We moved into a new house this summer and I claimed the extra bedroom for my craft room. At first this bedroom was the “catch all” room and complete train wreck {as you can see in this before picture.} After months of planning and many hours later, I created my dream craft room. {see my inspiration board here}
Welcome to My Dream Craft Room
I LOVE it! Isn’t it gorgeous? I love the yellow chandelier. killer. {$3 find at the thrift store + yellow spray paint} and my crib spring turned inspiration board. perfect. Gray stenciled wall. to die for. And the most drool worthy craft room storage boxes from The Original Scrapbox. amazing. This my friends, is a dream come true for me!

In case you didn’t know, I’m a fabric hoarder. There is 60+ yards of fabric on the rod alone. {yes, i have my fave fabric shops on speed dial. haha} Davis made the bottom shelf unit from an old book shelf we found on the side of the road. we turned it on its side, added cubbies, and painted it white. {more details on this transformation to come.}

I heart these colors.
This is the Sewing Box from the Original Scrapbox. This little box of magic unfolds into an amazing sewing station. It fits both my sewing machines and some storage.
Some of you may recognize that blue chair from this post.
I have the EZ View Desk in the center of the room with 2 upholstered bar stools {more on those later}. I also got the extra set of drawers to make the desk higher {who doesn’t love a few extra drawers!} it makes the desk the perfect height to stand at and work. Oh and the see through top is very handy!
I think this is my fave work station. The Work Box is such an awesome piece! Its rather large, but it holds SO much! I love how it has so many different sized cubbies + a small table. This is the perfect place for my Cameo because there is a small hole in the back so I can plug it in. So now all I have to do is hook up my laptop and cut away! And icing on the cake, this box is on wheels and is really easy to move. {I moved that large hunk of awesomeness all around the room….by myself…..to determine the exact right spot for it. no lie.}
And lastly, the Craft Box. This is a great storage box. It is smaller than the Work Box, but it also has a pull up table top and holes in the back so that you can plug in your crafting tools. {glue gun, cutting tool, computer, etc} This box is not on wheels and so its harder to move around than the much larger Work Box. And I wish this one had a few more bin sizes. This is an excellent storage box, I just think I prefer the larger Work Box because its easier to use and has more options for storage.

I gave my old crib spring a fresh coat of paint. Now i am using it as my inspiration board to hang pictures and items that inspire me. This corner of the room is my fabric cutting station. I love all the great natural lighting in this corner. Its great for taking pictures for all my tutorials. The white desk is my original craft desk that I started out with. I got when we moved to Viriginia 5 years ago. The turquoise dish is an vintage pyrex dish. {love the colors of vintage pyrex!} You’ll notice i have a few of them around the room.
I adore vintage dishes! {remember my milk glass plate wall?}
I was stumped on how to organize my ribbon. Half of it was on spools and half of it was not. Thanks to the lovely ladies on Craftaholics Anonymous Facebook page, I found the perfect way to store my ribbon. {check this comment thread for some great ideas and links!}
I just love being organized. It is so refreshing! After the chaos of moving this summer, its rejuvenating to finally feel organized and know where all my crafting supplies are.

I tried to use my crafting supplies to decorate my craft room instead of hiding them all away. I feel that the colors and textures of my crafting supplies are an asset to the room and help inspire my creativity.
I am planning to do a video tour of my craft room over Thanksgiving so you ladies can get a real visual tour of the layout. Just looking at pictures can be difficult to get a real feel for a room, so I’m going to try my hand at making a guided tour video. we’ll see how it goes! lol
CRAFT ROOM SHOUT OUTS: First, I want to thank Davis {the hubster} for all of his help and support in making my dream craft room a reality. He spent hours along side me working in my craft room. And for the record, he stenciled that gorgeous wall. all by himself. I love that man!
Second, huge thank you to The Original Scrapbox for providing me with the most amazing storage boxes known to crafters! Their products are high quality and designed with the crafter in mind. huge fan here. keep reading for a chance to win one of their products!
Third, thank you to my good friend, Cara for taking most of the pictures in this post. The dismal cloudy day + my old camera would not have done this room justice.
Watch a video tour of my craft room.
disclosure: i received free products from The Original Scrapbox to review. i was in no way obligated to give a good review. all opinions are 100%. please see my disclosure page for a complete statement.

I love all the texture and color you have in your Craft Room. Your idea to organize your ribbon is ingenious. I love all of the items that the Scrapbox has to make organizing a craft room so much easier. I have all my crafts organized in my walk in closet in my bedroom. I used the Store in Style cubes to organize my closet.
Wow!!! I am positively green with envy, fantastic craft room. xxx
Amazing!!!!!
Beautiful room!!!!!. Everything in order. I’m jealous!!!!
Great room. Would you mind sharing info on the wallpaper you have up? Thanks.

Yes, I would love info on where you got your wallpaper too! I love it!!!
It’s a beautiful craft room! Isn’t it wonderful to have a dedicated space for your hobbies? I just love my “studio,” & could remain in there for days on end!
CAS
ohmy goodness, I LOVE this!!!! that crib spring/picture holder is AWESOME!
I love this space!! Although every piece is wonderful I am dying to know more about your amazing grey stenciled wall. Thanks
Hi Leticia,
Thank you! We used a stencil from Royal Design studio. First we painted the wall an off white and then with the stencil, painted on the gray. Does that help?
happy crafting,
linda
What color is the grey paint?
Hi Bonnie,
It is Graceful Gray by Behr. Love Behr paint!! Thanks for stopping by!
happy crafting,
Linda
I saw the link to this blog from Everything Etsy, and I’m completely intrigued by the rod on which you hang your fabrics. I get that it’s a curtain rod, but what do you use for the rings and clips? I would love something like that in my space!
Holy Organization batman! That’s amazing! I love all the beadboard style! I agree with Marianne, green with envy here too, there is no rhyme or reason to my craft room right now!
thank you, Rachel!! i’m so glad you stopped by :)
happy crafting,
linda
LOVE how you hung your fabric! Love it so much I just might have to do the same. Can you tell me what clips you used to hold up the fabric though? In the midst of redoing my craft area and your idea for the fabric is just perfect. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Amber,
thanks for stopping by! I used curtain clips to hang the fabric. They are little loops with hooks on them that you find by the curtain rods. hope that helps!
happy crafting,
linda
I feel so inspired! I could print pics of your room and frame them for my walls! Just gorgeous.
aw thank you! i’m so glad you stopped by!
happy crafting,
linda
Absolutely LOVE the room! Where did you get the stencil? Impressive job by your hubby…
Oops – my mistake. I now see your response about the stencil. Thanks!
Love your crafting space. Great color choices. I’m a big fan of Grey.
thank you, Kathy! I’m so glad you stopped by!
happy crafting,
linda
Just discovered your blog (thanks Pinterest!), and your craft room is amazing! Did your husband really stencil the wall pattern behind the crib spring? Amazing. Though, I have a fantasy that you’ll tell me it’s wallpaper, since that’s exactly what we’ve been looking for … if it is secretly wallpaper, I’d love to know where to dig some up :)
Hi Kelley,
I’m so glad you found me! Pinterest rocks! :) The wall is actually stenciled and not wallpapered. Sorry to disappoint! My hubby was a good sport and painted the stencil. It took several days. But it turned out awesome! And one thing that I really like about a paint stencil, is we can just paint over it when we’re sick of it. Which is a little easier than removing wallpaper.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you’ll swing by again soon :)
happy crafting,
linda
That’s a craft room that every one will lust after! It’s so well-stocked if that is any way to put it at all!
Just wanted to let you know I gave you a shout out on my blog as I finally finished my craft room makeover and used your fabric curtain rod idea! Thank you! http://www.ambersantics.blogspot.com/2012/02/my-craft-area-makeover.html
Hi. I just found your blog and love it! Can you tell me the paint color on the walls of your craft room?
Hi Kelly, Thanks for stopping by! It is Graceful Gray by Behr. Love it!

linda
This room is so beautiful. I would love to have my craftroom as nice as yours. I might actually be able to do my crafts and be creative in a space like that. You are inspiring me to get a move on and get my act together. Thank you.
Amazing room! What did you use to hang the crib spring onto your wall?
O wow! Way to go on making your dream come true! It looks amazing!

I am redoing my office now and I thank you for the inspiring ideas. My workroom is seperate and has several industrial machines and bins with supplies. I am making my office a pretty place, a place where I want to be. A happy place while doing the paperwork for my sewing business. I will send you pics when I am done. Thank you again for inspiring me every week.
Your craft room is amazing. I love the way that you’ve used your colorful craft supplies as decor, and your organization of the entire space is ingenious. The decor is tasteful AND functional. I’m in awe :)

happy crafting,
Linda
OH MAN! it’s a sign! You originally posted this on my birthday!!!! Okay: ON THE VISION BOARD THIS GOES!
yes, its definitely a sign ;)
I LOVE your room! I also have the scrapbox desk and I can’t explain how much I love it or how many other people comment on how cool it is. You look like you have the same fabric birding issues that I do but you have had the time and ability to make your dream room(and mine)) a reality. Where did you find the mini clips for your hanging fabrics? How did you decide which should hang and which should go in the shelf? Amazing job!
Hi Kari, Thanks for stopping by! Isn’t the desk amazing?! love it! The mini clips on rings are from Ikea. They are meant to hold curtains. I’ve seen similar ones at Target as well. I hung all fabric that was in 1/2-2 yard increments. Smaller pieces are folded in the shelf. And then the longer pieces are on bolts in the shelf. I also have baskets for the smaller scraps. {I keep almost everything lol}
happy crafting!
Linda
I absolutely LOVE the storage in the Scrapbox. I love the colors of your space as well. you did an incredible job!!!! One question: the zippered clear vinyl bags…how are those attached to the wall? it almost looks like a velcro wall? or is it just a black wall?
Hi Shelly,
Thank you! Those zippered pouches are actually inside the Scrapboxes. {they come with them} The doors on the boxes have the receiving velcro, so the pouches just stick right to them. I’m so glad you stopped by!
happy crafting,
Linda
You did such a wonderful job! Your craft room is exactly what i dream of having one day. You should be very proud. Also, thanks for the introduction to Scrapbox…until your blog, I hadn’t heard of it, but it sounds like a company I would love! Happy crafting!
Thank you, Danielle! I feel so blessed to have it. Scrapbox products make awesome products and are very high quality. Glad I could introduce you to them! You’ll love them!
happy crafting,
Linda
Love the room! Where did you get your wall stencil? Have been looking all over for one like it.
Hi Aimee,
I got my stencil from Royal Design Studios. The one I used is: http://www.royaldesignstudio.com/products/endless-circles-lattice-moroccan-stencil
thanks for stopping by!
happy crafting,
Linda
hi! can you tell me what color grey the stenciled wall is? i love it and have trouble picking out greys that don’t look light blue :)
I totally understand, Karen!! Its so hard to pick grays! The color in my craft room is Graceful Gray by Behr. {love Behr paint!} If you want a lighter gray, I also like their Wheat Bread and have that in several other rooms in my home.
Thanks for stopping by!
happy crafting,
Linda
I love that stenciled wall – what stencil did your hubby use??
Hi Karen,
This is the stencil we used: http://www.royaldesignstudio.com/products/endless-circles-lattice-moroccan-stencil Thanks for stopping by!
happy crafting,
Linda
I love your room and all the organization of the furniture. I can see why you were nominated. Nice work and thanks for sharing it.
I am planning to stencil my craft room this summer and was trying to find a nice stencil. I laugh now I painted one wall 4 times trying to get a color that I loved. Finally ended up painting it all WHITE. Not what I had imagined at all for the last two years of planning the room.
I have never used a stencil before. Is this just one small stencil and you just keep moving it along on the wall and painting over it?
omg…I was looking for a desk like this and was unable to find out. Too bad I just bought a small desk….
I’m so glad you stopped by, Lexy! I think the Scrapbox sells just the top portion of the desk with the drawers and clear top to put on existing desks. Not sure if that was what you were looking for, but if so, I know they used to sell those separately.
happy crafting,
Linda
Wow, what a wonderful space. An inspiration for sure!
Thank you, Kerry! I’m so glad you stopped by!
happy crafting,
Linda
What a beautiful craft room!! What color did you use to spray paint the chair? It’s the perfect robins egg blue!
Thanks Amy!! The light blue is Aqua by Rustoleum. Love that color!!
I’m so glad you stopped by!

Linda
This is amazing!!! And I love the rod for hanging fabric, genius!!
Thanks, Kaysi! I’m so glad you stopped by today!
happy crafting,

I have never seen The Original Scrapbox furniture before but it looks AMAZING!!!! Wish I had seen this when you had the sweepstakes!!!
Hey Linda,
Where did you get all of your cabinets and shelves? I’m going to redo my craft room in a couple of months and I love how yours turned out!
Hi Kaysi,
They are from TheOriginalScrapbox.com and I love them! They are gorgeous and hold everything inside very neatly. Then when you’re done, simply fold the doors and hide all those millions of craft supplies :)
happy crafting,
Linda

Your craft room is inspiring. I am really taken by the idea to use a crib spring as an idea board. The color you chose to spray paint it is great. What color is it?
Hi LauraLee,
Thank you! The spray paint color is Lagoon by Rustoleum. I love the shade and have used it in several other projects around the house :)
happy crafting,
Linda
Just stumbled on your blog. A-mazing:)! So quick question… I know that you’ve already answered a multitude of questions about your stencil but I have another one. You mentioned that it took your husband days to finish the stencil… Why? I’m nervous about using a stencil but LOVE the way yours turned out. Was it hard? Any tips? Thanks for your inspiring little corner of the web:).
Hi Natalie,
Stenciling can take a lot of time, especially for the first time. The wall in my craft room is pretty long and the stencil is only 24″ wide. And then there was all the touch ups, which is pretty time consuming. My tips, use a dry brush so that the paint doesn’t run under the stencil, but make sure you get good coverage with the paint when you paint through the stencil, because the touch ups after take longer than making sure the coverage is good while the stencil is in place. Use a repositional spray adhesive to adhere the stencil to the wall temporarily while you paint it. I used Krylon brand, but any brand should work fine.
hope this helps!!
happy crafting,
Linda
