January Mantel decor

happy monday! i don’t know if its just me, or what, but everyone seems to be passing over January and right to Valentine’s Day?! i mean, don’t get me wrong, i love V-day. {umm, hello. its my BIRTHDAY! and yes, we celebrate big around here} but i like to give January a fair shot and celebrate winter and snow and snowmen. so i do decorate my mantel for January. {granted it will be coming down in the near future in favor of some red, pink, and heart decor} but, this is my winter mantelscape this year:

mantel decor for january

from left to right: a large milk glass plate {did i mention i collect them?}, snowball candle from PartyLite, 2×4 wood snowmen, snow sweater pillow, wood snowflake {had for years, spray painted blue}, and cotton balls and snowball candles in apothecary jars. {used E6000 to glue candle sticks and jars together to make}.

snow decorations

i love snowmen {as you probably remember}, but i don’t associate them with christmas {weird? maybe}. the official first day of winter was only a couple weeks ago {December 22}…..so, i guess that’s why i have a “Winter” mantel in January. i think the snowmen hold me over for those few awkward {and very bare!!} weeks after the christmas decor comes down.  probably doesn’t make any sense, but whatever!! lol i’ll start designing my Valentine’s Day mantel in a week or two.

PS Happy Birthday, Davis! {aka Mr. Craftaholics Anonymous}

does anyone else celebrate winter in january? or am i the only crazy one here?
