Last week, I revealed my #BEHRBox to you. Now I get to show you what I made with the contents of the box! I made a handy DIY Ironing Station for my craft room! It’s so perfect. I’ve wanted something to organize my iron and ironing board between my sewing station and fabric storage and this was the perfect solution.
DIY Ironing Board Station using a Wood Crate
The wood crate in my #BEHRBox challenge made the perfect organizer for my ironing supplies! It got my ironing board up off the floor and out of the way and keeps my iron out of my kids’ reach.
Simple and easy to make!
I bought the cutest hooks from the craft store. They work perfectly to hold my ironing board!
This what came in my #BEHRBox:
I had to use at least 3 items from the box. I used the 2.5″ Wooster® paint brush, That’s My Lime BEHR® Paint sample in Eggshell, and the sanding block.
How to Make an Ironing Station using a Wood Crate Tutorial
Supplies:
- Paint Brush
- 8 oz. Paint Sample {I used That’s My Lime by BEHR® Paint}
- Black Spray paint
- 2 Hooks
- 1/2″ Screws
- Sanding Block
- Screw Driver
- Large screw to hang the crate
- First I spray painted my wood crate black.
2. Then I painted over the black with That’s My Lime BEHR® Paint using my Wooster® brush. That’s My Lime is part of BEHR® 2017 Color Current line that is available at The Home Depot®. See the great coverage I got with the BEHR® paint!
3. After the paint dried, I lightly sanded the edges to reveal the black paint underneath. It is very subtle, but adds more dimension to my wood crate.
4. I hung my wood crate to the wall with the bottom against the wall using large screws. I made sure to secure the screws in studs. Then I attached the 2 hooks to the bottom of the crate with small 1/4″ screws.
5. Then place your iron inside the crate and hang your ironing board from the bottom and you have yourself an awesomely organized ironing station!
I hope this inspires you to create your own ironing station! I put this in my craft room, because let’s face it, the only time I iron is when I craft. ha! But this little set up would be fantastic in a laundry room as well.
