Cutting felt has been like my holy grail in the crafting world! I have tried and tried to find a good tool that can die cut felt well and constantly well. And my friends, I have found it! I’ll share all about it in a minute, but first, check out this ADORABLE felt flower garland wall decor I made for my little girl’s bedroom!! I totally love it!
Felt Flower Garland
Sadly, I haven’t done much in her bedroom yet, so this is a great start! I love the pinks and purples with the gold vinyl. The sewn layered felt flowers offer fabulous texture! Mix that texture with shiny gold vinyl and its a match made in heaven!
I had a ton of fun whipping this up. And it was incredibly easy! I used the new Cut N Boss tool to cut the felt and I loved it! The Cut N Boss was so easy to cut felt with and it did the cleanest cut on felt I’ve ever seen with a personal die cutting tool. It was seriously impressive. There were no strings or anything. Completely clean-cut flowers and leaves. AND I didn’t have to crank anything! Yep, the Cut N Boss is fully automated. How cool is that??
See how crisp the edges of the felt are? Unbelievable! Felt is a great way to test how well a die cutter works, and the Cut N Boss passed with flying colors. The Cut N Boss is compatible with other brand dies and embossing folders.
How to Make Felt Flower Garland
Supplies:
- Cut N Boss tool
- Pink, Purple, and Green Felt {I used wool felt, but polyester felt cuts fine too}
- AccuQuilt Go Flower Die
- Sewing Machine
- Thread
- Scissors
- Hot Glue Gun
- 12″ x 24″ Frame
- Gold Vinyl Decal
1. Cut 2 complete flowers in each of the 3 pink and purple colors and 8 leaves in green felt. To do this, sandwich your felt and die cut according to Cut N Boss* users manual.
*The Cut N Boss is really easy to use! Simply plug it in, make your cutting platform and die cut sandwich, and then stick into the opening. It senses the load and starts running and when its done, the rollers turn off. I accidentally did a sandwich wrong, and it started running it through, but then stopped and kicked it back out. This machine is smart, I tell ya! It won’t turn if you put your hand in the opening. {yes, I tried it!} So they have built in safety guards, but still be careful and do not allow pets or kids to use the Cut N Boss without unsupervised.
2. Stack up your felt flowers {my 6yo had fun helping me with this part!} and then stitch across using pink or purple thread.
3. Hot glue leaves to the flowers. Then I hot glued the ends of the threads to the frame and hung on the wall.
4. Apply gold vinyl decal where you want it and you have the cutest personalized wall decor for your little cutie!
This could be done with basketballs, soccer balls, animals, etc. Very versatile and fun!
