Christmas Deer Bust
I know many of you have been working on Christmas crafts for months! {at least that’s what the consensus was on our Facebook page!} So I’m finally getting on board and ready to share some easy Christmas decor with you! I shared this on Tater Tots & Jello last week and I’m excited to finally get to post it on here!
Looking for some simple, yet festive Christmas decor? This adorable little Christmas deer is super easy to make and requires little fuss. Although now I’m debating whether or not I should add a red pom pom to his nose! I think he’d be cute as a Rudolph the Reindeer bust as well!
I love bright, happy colors and polka dots, so you can imagine how much I love this little guy! The felt flowers add texture and depth to this Christmas art and make it 3D art instead of a flat picture.
Christmas Deer Bust Tutorial
Want to make a Christmas Deer Bust of your own? Great! Here’s how I made mine:
Supplies:
- Craft Felt in Christmas colors
- Christmas scrapbook paper
- Sheet music or book pages
- Scissors
- Hot Glue Gun
- Silhouette CAMEO {could also use a craft knife if you don’t have a digital cutter}
- BIGkick {pictured below}
- 8×10 White Picture Frame
- Paper trimmer
- Double sided Adhesive Runner
- Use your digital cutter to cut a deer bust out of the book page or sheet music. My deer measured about 8″x5.5″.
- Cut your background Christmas paper to be 8×10 using a paper trimmer.
- Apply adhesive to the back of the deer bust and attach to the background paper.
- Cut tiny circles in your red felt for the 2 small red pom pom felt flowers. I used my trusty BIGkick to cut the little circles in my felt, but you can easily hand cut them with scissors.
- Make your felt flowers using your hot glue gun. The pom pom flowers have 6 small felt circles folded into quarters and glued on. The green flower is simply a square piece of felt cut into a swirl and then wrapped around. {there are many tutorials for these types of felt flowers online. So if you don’t know how to make them, you can google ‘felt flower tutorials’. :) TIP: use this awesome trick to get rid of your hot glue strings on your felt flowers!
- Attach your felt flowers to the bottom of your book page deer and then pop him in an 8×10 frame and you’re done!
You can display him on the wall, table top, or even a Christmas Mantel! Drape a Christmas bunting across the picture frame for an added Christmas flare.

Thank you so much, Tanya! :)
Really like the stag image and love the monogram wreath, what a lovely gift for neighbours and friends.
I love this project! I don’t have a cameo, yet…. Is there any way you can share the outline of the deer for those of us that don’t have a cameo?
Thanks!
Victoria
Thanks, Victoria! I wish I could share the file, but it is copyrighted :( So sorry!!
This is so cute! Thanks for sharing :)
Thank you, Terrie!
Sooooo, you give us a craft to do, and we can’t print out the main part of it— because it’s copyrighted…. wouldn’t it make sense to share something we can print and cut ourselves, so we can do the project? Just wondering…
Hi Robin! You can download the deer file from Silhouette for 99 cents. I saw this cute deer in Silhouette’s library, loved it, and knew it was perfect for my project. The shape number is: #68967 Hope that helps! :)
