Craft Room Tour

My name is Aimee Weaver and I blog at My Pink Life, where you’ll find my DIY home projects, things that inspire me, as well as my many sign projects. I’m a mommy to three little ones, and I run my sign painting business called Aimee Weaver Designs. I paint signs and artwork using antique barn doors and salvaged wood.

I’m thrilled to be here today to show you my studio space! The space originally was a small efficiency apartment attached to our home that we rented out. Last summer we decided it was time to turn it into a work space for me. My children and I spend most of our days in this space, and we love it!

I divided the space into three areas: a painting area for me, a cozy sitting area where I can read books with the kids, and a craft area for the kids. It was important to me that there was an area for them to play while I work on my paintings.

We created the desk out of a cabinet that we found for free along the side of the road, and we topped it with an old door. My husband and I love to repurpose old materials and this is a perfect example.

bulletin board

I turned an unused window into a message/inspiration board for me. I covered cork board with chevron fabric that I found at Hobby Lobby, then glued it directly onto the window. I hung a curtain rod that I use to store kraft paper that I use for shipping.

The cabinets came from the old kitchen in the apartment. We painted them and refinished the wood floors by sanding them down and putting a finish on them. Everything was done on a very tight budget, and we mostly used things that we already had. The sea side-inspired painting above the chair is one of the many that I paint using antique barn doors.

color inspiration for a craft room

The inspiration for the colors in the room came from this old map that I found in the trash along the side of the road (please tell me I’m not the only person who digs through trash every now and then!). The little chalkboard was a tray that I found on clearance at Hobby Lobby. I just painted the inside with chalkboard paint.

chalkboard painted door

I painted the inside of the bathroom door with chalkboard paint as well.

vintage blue glass jars

I used a lot of old blue jars in the space.

art storage

This storage system from Ikea is a handy way to organize my brushes and tools.

Thank you so much for taking the little tour of my studio space! And thank you Linda for featuring me today!

Happy crafting!
