The Best Guacamole Recipe

easy guacamole recipe

So I have a thing for guacamole. A huge thing. Its like my favorite food! Funny thing is, I didn’t always like guacamole. About a year ago while I was pregnant with baby #3, I became obsessed with guacamole, thanks to a pregnancy craving that didn’t go away my entire pregnancy. I then spent the next year {guac instagram} perfecting my guacamole recipe and below is the result…. The Best Guacamole recipe ever! I have taste tested this with family and friends and everyone absolutely loves it! Its a simple, easy recipe that packs a bunch of flavor.  And once you start eating it, its hard to stop! Seriously. While I was photographing this batch, I kept snitching a little chip here and there and I finally had to tell myself to stop eating it or there wouldn’t be any left to take a picture of!

I consider this guacamole recipe fairly healthy since it is without sour cream or added fats.

A Word on Jalapeños: I highly recommend using bottled jalapeño peppers in this guacamole because they are milder and offer more of the yummy jalapeño flavor without the heat. And they’re tons faster. And because no matter what precautions or gloves I use when cutting fresh jalapeños, I will ALWAYS get it into my eyes or contacts. Without fail. So I am a huge proponent of bottled jalapeños. But fresh or bottled work well in this recipe!

Best Guacamole Recipe

  • 4 Ripe Avocados
  • 1 Lime, juiced with some pulp {can use 3T bottled lime juice, but not quite as good}
  • 3 Tablespoon Diced Jalapeño pepper {we prefer bottled.}
  • 1/4-1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 Cup Cilantro, chopped {about 1/2 bunch}

How to Make Guacamole: Remove the peel and pit from each avocado and place in a medium bowl. Gently mash with a fork, leaving it a little chunky. Squeeze the juice and some pump from one lime onto the avocados. Then sprinkle on salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Stir well. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. Then fold in cilantro and jalapeño peppers. Garnish with a cilantro leaf or two. Serve immediately or refrigerate until serving.  guacamole recipe

    When do the peppers go in?

      At the very in. You fold that in with the cilantro

    I never thought of making guacamole without tomatoes. I think I might try it, since my husband isn’t too fond on them. Thanks for sharing your recipe!

    It looks delicious! I used to hate anything avocado related until this last year. Don’t know what changed (I certainly wasn’t pregnant!) but I’m a big fan of them now! Can’t wait to try the recipe.:)

    That looks good. I like a little bit of fresh, diced tomato in my guacamole (it reminds of the best guacamole I ever had in a little Mexican restaurant), otherwise, I think the ingredients are the same. Yum!

    About the same as ours…only I used Garlic Salt instead of Garlic powder & the Salt separate. We even eat it on crackers if we run out of chips & as most there are usually NO leftovers!

    This is amazing guacamole. Just made a smaller batch for myself as nobody in my house would touch anything that was green and goes on chips. Delicious! Thanks for the recipe

    I will have to try this with the canned jalapenos! I use fresh if I have them, but I bet the canned ones would add a different flavor that would be really good!

    This is definitely the very best guacamole recipe that I may have ever had. I’m not a huge fan of guac with a lot of lime so I only squeezed half of a lime in. Aside from that I followed the recipe exactly and it was AMAZING. My whole family felt the same way! Super easy to make too. I’d give it 5 stars if I could rate it!

    i made a half batch of this tonite and it was excellent! I used the first 2 fresh jalapeños from the garden. Also, due to salt restrictions, I used a tablespoon of Mrs. Dash southwest chipotle seasoning.

    I am always curious when I see a recipe claiming to be “The Best” of something, especially guacamole. And that is because after being in Mexico and loving the guacamole we had there, I experimented until I came up with a copycat recipe that tasted just like the Mexican recipe. So I think I make the best guacamole. Now I know I am not the only one who makes the “best”. Your recipe is pretty much exactly the same as mine. My comment on tomatoes in guacamole… Absolutely not! And I am a lover of tomatoes, but not in quacamole. Never in Mexico did we have any with tomatoes in it. Keep on dipping!
