kitchen update on the cheap!

when we moved into our home over 3 years ago, we updated almost everything in the kitchen: new counter tops, deep sink, faucet, track lighting, built a breakfast bar, etc. etc etc. but we did not have the budget to redo the cabinets. we still don’t. and as some of you may know, we have been trying to sell our house to relocate closer to Davis’s work. we have been trying to make small changes to improve our home without breaking the bank {because this housing market is doing a good job of that already. ugh}
our latest “fix” was to update our kitchen hardware. the previous owners had the ugly knobs on the left on every single cabinet door. including drawers. drove us crazy. after a couple trips to the hardware store, we selected the pretty knobs on the right. they are a lot bigger and look so much better!
we got new pulls for the drawers. which i love! the pulls were $5/each, but we only needed 4. we bought the knobs in a value pack instead of out of the bin to save money and so they were $2/each instead of $3. so for $60, we updated all the knobs and drawers in our kitchen.

this next picture is our kitchen BEFORE with the old hardware.

the old hardware just blended into the cabinets.
and below is an AFTER shot. sorry they’re different angles.
the new hardware stands out and adds to the beauty of the kitchen. plus they match our stainless steel appliances. it’s like my kitchen got new earrings or something!
and if you don’t know how to change your existing hardware, it is simple. all you need is a screw driver, manual or electric. unscrew the knob’s screw from the inside of the door, put the new knob in place, and screw tight. ta-da! simple as that.
