Tutorial Week: Easy Fabric Button Bracelet

Tutorial Week Day 4: HAPPY TURKEY DAY!!!!Hope you are enjoying some stuffing and pumpkin pie…. cuz I am! mmm! We’ll be celebrating with friends today since we live on the opposite side of the country as our families. But before we do, I’ll be running a 10K (sure glad I can schedule posts…) Ok, I’ll stop rambling. I know you’re here for a tutorial so I’ll get to it. Today’s tutorial is a Fabric Button Bracelet. And talk about easy!
little man stole it and had fun chewing on it. lolfhujiuo
Supplies:
  • fabric scraps
  • scissors
  • buttons (I used six 1 1/4″ buttons)
  • elastic
  • hot glue gun
First measure your wrist with the elastic and add 1″ extra.
Overlap the elastic and sew across the ends a couple times.
Place your button on your fabric and cover the part of the design that you want to be on the button.
Cut about 1/2″ away from the button all the way around. Don’t worry about making a perfect circle.
Then place your button flat side against the wrong side of the fabric, centered over the part of the fabric that you want to be visible.
Put a line of hot glue around the outside of the button and fold over fabric. Be sure to glue down any loose corners.
Should look something like this.
While the glue is still warm, flip over the button and press down (on a protected surface, learn from my mistake:) to flatten the fabric on the back.
Then hot glue each button onto the elastic, being sure to center them. I found it worked best to keep the elastic rounded (vs. flattened) when I was gluing on the buttons. That way I got them closer and could control how the bracelet looked. If you flatten the elastic when glue the buttons on, they will be too far apart.
This pic shows the bracelet well, but my lovely model’s arm looks awkward….

These bracelets would make great gifts. And moms would love them because they’re great teethers {just ask my little man} and stylish.
