Window turned Coat Rack

Happy Monday. Happy Presidents Day….AND Happy Birthday, Mom!!

Just in case you missed my guest post on Silhouette’s blog last week, here is my old vintage window turned coat hanger. Its a great organizational item, conversation piece, and some good looking DIY home decorating. um, perfect!

home decorating ideaThe hooks are so handy! I thought my 2 boys would be the only ones to use it, but I’ll admit, my coat and scarf frequent those hooks all the time. Its just so convenient to have all of our coats in one place right by the door when I’m headed out the door with 2 small boys in tow.

You  know how much I love to repurpose items….especially old windows and doors. They are just way too fun to play with and you can get them for cheap at the Habitat For Humanity’s Restore, thrift stores, or even Antique stores.

I used my CAMEO {i’m giving one away here!} to personalize the window with some vinyl. {who doesn’t love a good monogram?} And the “hats, caps, coats, cloaks” along the bottom lets visitors know they are welcome to hang their coats and what nots on there.

{other projects pictured above: Upholstered bench makeover and whimsical wood frame chalkboard}

vintage windowI found the hooks at Ben Franklin for $1/each a couple years ago. They are a little too big, but I love it that way! They are hands down, the perfect hooks for this window, I think.

I designed the monogram in the Silhouette Studio software. The font for the G is My Own Topher and then I created 2 circles with the basic shape tools. The font I used for “hats, caps, coats, cloaks” is Smiley Monster.

window craft ideaI love decorations that are both functional and pretty.

Craft News

silhouette promo codeSilhouette announced at CHA that they were coming out with a new larger 12″ x 24″ cutting mat . The bigger cutting surface will make it easier to do larger projects and crafts with the CAMEO. And guess what….the new mat is now available! {yes, i know many of us were on pins and needles because they didn’t come in on time, but they’re finally here!!}

I don’t know about you, but as soon as I heard about this new mat, I’ve been dying to get my hands on one. {mine should be arriving any day now!} And guess what….the 25% off discount that Silhouette so kindly offered my readers for my b-day bash, is valid on the new 12″x24″ cutting mat as well! Thanks Silhouette!! You guys rock.

So, crafters, you can get the bigger cutting mat for only $14.99 with promo code: CRAFT. Grab one at this discounted rate while you can!

Ok, that’s all I have today. Hope you have a great holiday and I’ll see you back here tomorrow with my new St. Patrick’s Day Wreath tutorial.
